Depression got the better of me at the start of the month, and I didn’t do my usual I made it! monthly roundup for March.
Nevermind. Here’s two month’s worth of what I’ve been up to.
After the success of my first pair of socks, I had a request from a colleague to make him some. He bought two balls of wool, and at first I really enjoyed the challenge of knitting with two colours since I’d not tried that before. Although having finished one sock, I am lacking motivation to get on with the other.
Feeling uninspired by the socks meant that I stopped doing any craft for a little while. But I got back into the swing of things by starting a new crochet project, which I’m pretty inspired by.
I saw this cardigan on the cover on Inside Crochet magazine a few months ago, bought the magazine for the pattern but have made myself finish some other things before starting it. It feels very exciting to be finally making it!
I let myself buy new yarn for the job, which I don’t usually do, and it’s been a treat to work with something I’ve picked out specially rather than something I’m trying to use up.
Also – I discovered how great adult colouring books are! After several years of being snobby about them (“Why do I need one when I can draw my own designs to colour in?”) they were the only thing I felt up to while I felt really low. Seriously, I’m not sure how I would have gotten through March without colouring – it’s a great low-pressure way to do something creative when you can barely get out of bed. In fact, I did one page while in bed.
I took the book on holiday with my husband and in-laws and spend most post-ski afternoons sat on the balcony by myself colouring. I made me feel so calm.
